(Pirgos, Tinos 1851-Athens 1938)
His natural talent developed in his association with the sculptors L. Drossi (at the Athens Polytechnic) and Max Wintman (at the Munich School of Fine Arts). He worked in Tinos and in Athens with his father, who was a marble sculptor and building contractor.
In 1878 he became ill, remained in a psychiatric hospital until 1902, and thereafter retired to Tinos, and Athens after 1930. The style and thematic aspects of his earlier works are clearly classic. Later, however, when he began to work again after many years of solitude, he abandoned his former more orthodox tendencies and chose freer forms of sculpture in work with clay.
