The author selected 21 paintings of earlier and modern painters from the permanent display of the E. Averoff Art Gallery, representing the movements and styles of the prolific nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and tracing the ideas driving the evolution of painting. Reflecting the Gallery venue’s layout, this guidebook proposes a path for exploring the history of Modern Greek painting and enables visitors to tour the premises, to contemplate on these works and their historical context, and discover the artists’ stories.
