Female figure

In Palieraki's Female Figure, with its marked alternations of white and black, she gives expression to her quests, which centre upon an attempt to render the melancholy mood of the female figure which is depicted in a posture of thought - familiar from the history of iconography - with one hand supporting her face. Distant, as if she had no connection with the world around her, dressed in black, she stands out against the off-white background, with all the weight with which care has charge her heavy and bulky body. The shining white on her hands and half of her face, which stands out from the black of her clothing and her hair, lends drama to the composition, stressing even more the tragedy of the figure.
