Aris Liakos was born in Athens in 1932. He lived in Karditsa until he was 17 and then moved to Athens. He studied at the University of Athens School of Medicine. He specialised in psychiatry in England. He became an elected professor and taught psychiatry at the University of Ioannina for 20 years. In addition to his scientific work and publications, he also presented lectures on psychiatry and art.
His visual artistic work covers a wide range of topics, dominated by landscapes and watercolours. Freedom, spontaneity, abstraction and an intensely experiential approach are some of the consistent characteristics of his works.
