Zervos Nicos
(Corfu 1901 - Corfu 1988)
Descended from an old Corfu family which gave to art the artists who shared the name of Prosalentis, Zervos received his first lessons in painting from Constantinos Parthenis, and then from Markos Zavitsianos. He concerned himself with portraits, but even more with landscapes, in which he manifests his love for the natural features of Corfu, which, as he himself notes in his writings, he attempted to interpret through his painting.

Description
Zervos's work is characterised by a gentle expressionistic plein air approach, which we can see illustrated in the work in the Averoff Gallery Landscape with Olive Groves. Zervos focuses his interest on the rendering of the twisted trunks of the olive trees; the spontaneous attack of colour on these, also identical with that of the ground, produces an abstract image in the composition.
