Description

As a member of the group of Belgian realist painters, Pantazis frequently visited the 'Le Repos des Artistes' inn at Anseremme, which was frequented by artists who were not followers of a particular trend, but shared a common belief in painting free of conventions. Snow-covered Landscape must be a view of Anseremme in winter, as we can conclude from other works with similar views of this village. Here the artist is not interested in the precise depiction of the specific location, but in a rendering of an impression of the whole through surfaces worked with a spatula, which become virtually monochrome as a result of the reflections of the snow on them.
