Miniatis was a painter who made his artistic and intellectual presence strongly felt, both in Greece and in Rome and Florence, where he lived from time to time after finishing his studies. Description
The work Two Children with Grapes shows a scene in which children are the protagonists like those which abounded in Italian vernacular painting. The painting shows certain weaknesses, both in the drapery of the garments and in the figure of the girl, whose face and movements are more appropriate to a grown woman than to a child. Nevertheless, it is a typical example of the genre painting which developed in the Ionian Islands in the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
