Tsamis Yiannis
(Thessaloniki 1920 - )
A painter, print-maker and sculptor. He dedicated himself to painting at the first opportunity and took his first lessons from P. Rengos in Thessaloniki. He later went to Paris, where he attended the A. Brianchon School of Fine Arts (1950 - 1953). In 1953 he studied under F. Leger. He was also associated with D. Galanis and other Greeks in Paris. He then settled in Paris, to paint, make prints and work as a scenery-painter.
He has participated in many group exhibitions of French and Greek artists in Paris. The subjects of his art mainly comprise nudes, landscapes and city scenes, portrayed with bright colours and profuse light, lending a particular transparency to his work.

Description
The works of Tsamis entitled Nude, Still Life and Flowers are very close to the subject-matter and the manner of depiction of these subjects of Galanis, an artist who had a very profound influence upon and gave a direction to many Greek painters in Paris.
